Benjamin D. Morris - Board of Advisors

Mr. Morris graduated from The McCallie School, a private high-school in Chattanooga TN, and from Vanderbilt University in 1990, with degrees in Environmental Engineering, Economics, and Math. 
 
Married to the former Jennifer Myers of Nashville TN, he has 3 beautiful, smart and talented children, ages 13, 9, and 4. 
 
Mr. Morris is active in his church, and has few hobbies outside of the study of leaders and leadership, but enjoys long-distance bike ridding, swimming, and other outdoor activities.
 
Currently Mr. Morris is actively engaged in spending time with his family, and leading The J. Hugh Morris Investments, LLC company.
 
Most recently, Mr. Morris joined the Chasm Industries executive management team to help Chasm grow into one of the premier electronic recyclers and IT asset management companies in the USA.  Prior to joining Chasm, in 1997, Mr. Morris co-designed, co-orchestrated, and secured funding for the acquisition of what was four separate family-owned businesses totaling six different scrap metal facilities in Mississippi. 
 
As President of Morris Recycling for eight years following its creation, Mr. Morris led the management team to grow the business by acquisition and organic growth to a volume more than three fold its original size.  This growth secured Morris Recycling as one of the largest scrap metal recyclers in the country.
 
Prior to entering the recycling field, Mr. Morris spent time in the software industry in Atlanta Georgia.  This experience covered a wide range of software fields, with roles ranging from manager, to consultant, to President, and owner. 
 
This experience in the software field was also applied in 1999, during which Mr. Morris was a founding partner in Vadum Technologies, a dot-com venture capital funded software company lead by Mr. William Rucker of Carrollton Georgia.
 
Mr. Morris had small roles and interns early in his career that ranged from being the chairman of the PRP technical committee for an EPA Superfund sight in Alabama, to internships with Morgan Keegan, Mutual of New York, and Pinnacle Insurance Company, to consulting on mathematical analysis projects for Coca-Cola and software solutions for 3M.
 
He has served on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Recycling Industries, and served as President of the organization’s largest chapter.  With two other people, he formed Recycling Industry Operating Standards which created a standard approach to safety, environmental issues, and quality.  He has also been a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
